Dakar Hosts More than 200 foreign and local delegates for the 2nd AUB Media Summit on Climate Change, 13-14 February 2025



Dakar, Senegal – More than 200 delegates are expected to converge on the King Fahd Palace, Dakar, the capital city of Senegal for the 2nd African Union of Broadcasting, AUB Media Summit on Climate Change. Hosted by the Senegal Radio and Television, RTS and the Senegal Ministry of Environment with support from the United Nations Office for Disaster Risk Reduction, the summit is an opportunity for players in the broadcast media industry to brainstorm on the role of the media, especially radio in the global fight against the climate crisis.


With the theme, "Reaching the last mile: Radio for Climate Action" stakeholders including media executives, the scientific community, regulatory agencies, government institutions and top government functionaries will share ideas on how the education, enlightenment and mobilization capacities of radio can be translated into building more responsive, pro-active, adaptive and resilient communities impacted by the climate crisis.


The summit will feature technical sessions covering a wide range of thematic areas including the role of the media in promoting citizens participation in climate action, inclusive climate journalism, indigenous knowledge and cultural considerations for social mobilization among others.
