AUB Celebrates International Africa Day under the sign of the fight against Covid19
As part of the International Africa Day which will be celebrated on May 25, 2020 under the slogan "Together as One, together is WAN", the Worldwide Afro Network ( WAN), together with the African Union of Broadcasting (AUB) are mobilizing to raise awareness on the health and socio-economic consequences of the Covid19 pandemic in Africa.
This unprecedented event will be marked by two highlights:
- A giant virtual concert dubbed WanShow2: 0, bringing together the most famous artists from Africa and its Diaspora like Angelique Kidjo, Jimmy Cliff, Youssou N'Dour, Jacob Desvarieux, Fally Ipupa, Oumou Sangare, Lenine and many others other;
- A collective debate setting side by side renowned personalities, members of the Civil Society as well as Changemakers and Innovators.
The celebration will feature several debates on subjects such as financial inclusion in times of economic downturn and the acceleration of Africa’s digital transformation.
To allow the African populations be connected fully to the event, the AUB will put in synchronization all its member organizations as well as partners of the European Broadcasting Union (EBU) and the Asia-Pacific Broadcadcasting Union (ABU), around its Network of Programme Exchange called AUBVISION.
Clearly, activities marking the International Africa Day will be broadcast free of charge at Prime Time on African national and private Radio and TV channels thanks to the technical expertise of the African Union of Broadcasting.
