AUB Launched African Artificial Intelligence Observatory


Gathered in Gaborone on September 2, 2024, the members of the Executive Council of the African Union of Broadcasting defined the Union's strategic orientations and took stock of ongoing projects.
Chaired by Mr. Cléophas Barore of Rwanda, the Council unanimously adopted the creation of the African Artificial Intelligence Observatory, an ambitious AUB initiative aimed at supporting the continent's media in their digital transformation.
Speaking at the launch, AUB Director General Grégoire Ndjaka emphasized the importance of this initiative as a concrete step towards implementing the recommendations of the AUB Summit on Artificial Intelligence and Media, held in March 2024 in partnership with UNESCO.
As the AUB General Assembly opens today, September 3,  at the Avani Resort Gaborone under the presidency of His Excellency Mr. Slumber Tsogwane, Vice President of the Republic of Botswana, delegates will discuss a range of pressing issues facing the African audiovisual industry.

Panel 1: Optimizing production processes with AI, audience measurement, data collection: evaluation and feedback.
Panel 2: Contribution of content exchange in the development of information and programs.
Panel 3: Resilience of African media in the face of climate change, media advocacy for citizen engagement in climate action.
