CALL FOR ENTRIES: AUB MEDIA AWARDS 2024
The African Union of Broadcasting (AUB) is pleased to announce the second edition of its Radio and Television Program Competition for the year 2023-2024, aiming to develop the production of African radio and television programs, and to keep in tune with developments in the audiovisual world.
THE SPECIFIC OBJECTIVES OF THIS COMPETITION ARE AS FOLLOWS:
1. Encourage and stimulate the production process while respecting universal professional specifications.
2. Promote the exchange of experience and cooperation between the members of the Union and between them and the rest of the world.
3. Enrich the bank of programmes of the African audiovisual industry to safeguard the memory of our continent.
4. Promote the production of competitive African content.
5. Encourage producers to offer content of interest to the public from a cultural and educational point of view.
6. Encourage African media to publicize and promote African wealth in all its aspects (historical, economic, political, sporting, social-cultural, etc.), without forgetting contemporary African reality.
COMPETITION FREQUENCY:
- The competition is organized annually, and the results are announced at each General Assembly of the Union.
- The competition is open exclusively to member organizations of the African Union of Broadcasting (AUB) and a special prize is provided for a freelance production
LANGUAGES
All official languages spoken within the Union are accepted, including French, English, Portuguese and Arabic.
CONDUCT OF THE COMPETITION
Each Organization / Establishment can participate in the competition in several categories of radio and television programmes.
Submitted entries will be examined by a selection committee to assess their compliance with the required standards. Programmes of an advertising nature or which do not serve the African interest are excluded from the competition.
REWARDS:
*The best programmes will receive prizes:
1. In Sports
2. In Culture
3. In Economics
4. In politics
* The winner of the best production (documentary/magazine/major report) receives the Special Prize of the African Union of Broadcasting.
In each category, the top three will be rewarded as follows:
1. 1st prize: US$3000
2. 2nd prize: US$2000
3. 3rd prize: US$1000
THE JURY:
The jury (radio and television) will be made up of experts in the audiovisual field who will meet as a prelude to the General Assembly. The evaluation of the productions will be done in accordance with the rules established by the AUB, followed by the announcement of the winners for the deliberations.
The committee may make changes to the competition rules.
For this second edition, the competition aims to reward:
1. The best report of a maximum duration of 02 minutes in one of the following areas:
Ø Policy
Ø Culture
Ø Environment
Ø Economy
Ø Sport
Ø Science
2. The best maximum production duration is 13 minutes.
Ø Documentary,
Ø Magazine,
Ø Great report,
THEMES:
Ø History of Africa
Ø Artificial Intelligence
Ø Sport
Ø Culture & tradition: culinary art, clothing art, crafts, wedding
Ø Gender
Ø Children
Ø Health
Ø People living with a disability (motor, mental, sight, autism, hearing, etc.)
Ø A fiction about a story
TERMS OF PARTICIPATION:
Only one programme is selected for each category and from each organization (radio or television).
The participation form must be sent to the AUB content exchange centre, including the electronic link and the format of the file (video) in competition.
The programme is expected to be produced during the year 2023/2024
The duly completed participation form must be sent by e-mail to the following addresses:

Only productions that have complied with all the conditions and specifications set out in the competition statutes and regulations will be taken into account.
