Dr. Marie Jeanne G. SAMBOU, physicist and researcher in climate impacts, panellist at the AUB - UNDRR - RTS Summit on Climate Change, in Dakar

Dr. Marie Jeanne G. SAMBOU is a physicist/researcher in climate and climate impacts at Cheikh Anta Diop University of Dakar, at the École Polytechnique Supérieure, within the Laboratory of Atmospheric and Ocean Physics - Siméon Fongang, in Senegal.
She holds a Master's degree in Physics and Applications, a Master 2 in Engineering Sciences (option: meteorology, oceanography and management of arid environments) and a Doctorate in Atmospheric Physics (option: climate and climate impacts).
She completed her thesis between the LPAOSF (Dakar-ESP/UCAD), the CRC (Dijon - University of Burgundy) and the LOCEAN (Paris-Sorbonne University) as part of the ACASIS project (Heatwave Alert in the Sahel and their Health Impacts).
Specializing in the study of links between climate and health, she focuses on understanding the atmospheric processes that influence extreme events, particularly heat waves in the Sahel, especially in Senegal, as well as the impact of climate change on health for the purpose of risk forecasting.
Today, as a Post-doctoral Researcher at LPAOSF, she participates in various research projects in both Environment-Health and in the monitoring, understanding and forecasting of extreme climatic events. Author of several scientific publications, she actively contributes to climate research and scientific communication by participating in international and national conferences and collaborative projects.
Active as a Climate Reality Leader of Senegal, she aims to bring adaptation and mitigation solutions to climate challenges, integrating scientific research with environmental policies.
