Maimouna Modibo Timbo, Voice of the Sahel, to Amplify Indigenous Knowledge in the Fight Against Climate Change at AUB –UNDRR – RTS Climate Summit



Dakar, Senegal – The 2nd Summit of the African Union of Broadcasting (AUB) on the role of media in the fight against climate change, which will be held in Dakar on February 13th and 14th, 2025, will welcome an engaged and passionate voice: Maimouna Modibo Timbo. Journalist and Director of the radio La Voix du Sahel (The Voice of the Sahel) in Niger, she will bring her expertise and experience to a crucial panel entitled "Indigenous Knowledge and Cultural Narratives: Reflecting and Shaping Community Perspectives on Resilience and Adaptation Strategies to Climate Change through Radio Broadcasts."


Maimouna Modibo Timbo, an emblematic figure in the Niger media landscape, is an ardent advocate for taking into account local knowledge and ancestral practices in the fight against climate change. Her presentation will focus on how radio broadcasts can amplify the voices of indigenous communities, share their unique knowledge, and promote adaptation solutions tailored to their realities.
