Sahel Journalists in Far North Cameroon Strengthen Skills to Tackle AI Challenges and Seize Opportunities
A training seminar equipping Sahel journalists with skills in Artificial Intelligence concluded in Maroua, Far North Cameroon on July 10, 2024.
The seminar jointly organized by the Media for Peace association represented by its president Moussa Marandata, and the African Union of Broadcasting (AUB) represented by its Director General, Grégoire Ndjaka, aimed to equip journalists from northern Cameroon to the march towards new technological tools associated with Artificial Intelligence.
The Secretary General of the Far North region Evariste Atangana ZOA, personal representative of the Governor, welcomed this initiative which has huge impact on the quality of the information made available to the public. It fits perfectly into the vast digital transformation program undertaken by African media in their pursuit of contemporary and modern practice in the business of information dissemination.
Deputy Director of the AUB Content Exchange Center, Gisèle Nnemi Nga made a presentation focused on “Artificial Intelligence and the promotion of peace”.
Director General of the Union, Grégoire Ndjaka, invited the participants to form a network to give his organization the opportunity to better supervise them and help them improve their journalistic skills on a daily basis leveraging Artificial Intelligence.
More than sixty journalists took part in this training which ended on July 10, 2024 at the Mizao hotel in Maroua.
