The New Secretary General of CONFEJES Installed

Elected at the end of the 38th Ministerial Conference held in Ouagadougou (Burkina Faso), from February 23 to 27, 2021, Louisette-Renée Thobi Etame Ndedi took oath of office on August 30, 2021 for a four-year mandate at the head of the institution.

The new Secretary General of the Conference of Ministers of Youth and Sports in French-Speaking Countries, (French acronym CONFEJES) has been Installed. Louisette-Renée Thobi Etame Ndedi took oath of office on Monday, 30th August 2021, in Dakar, Senegal in the presence of Sports and physical education Officials.

Also present at the solemn ceremony were the Chief Executive Officer of the African Union of Broadcasting, Mr Grégoire Ndjaka, Cameroon's Ambassador to Senegal, HE Jean Koe Ntonga, Diplomats from French speaking countries accredited to Senegal, and the press.

Born in 1967, in Cameroon, Louisette Louisette-Renée Thobi Etame Ndedi is a staff member of international sports and physical education institutions. She has been a top athlete. In 1992, she was at the start of the 100m hurdles event at the Barcelona Olympic Games.

Madam Thobi Etame Ndedi is the 7th Secretary General, and the first woman to hold this position in the history of the institution.

She has been teaching Sports and Physical Education and was a National Coach in her country's National Athletics Team.

She returns to CONFEJES where she was for 3 years, from 2017 to 2020, Deputy Director of Sports programs. Caring for the cause of women and girls, she took on the responsibility of coordinating GTCF actions, that is, the CONFEJES Working Group for the Promotion and Participation of Women and Girls in Sports and Leisure Activities, during that same period.
